Hi All, I am doing some research for my companies possible PBX move to IP based and have read serveral informative post, for that I thank you all.

My question is does anyone have an IP based phone suitable for harsh enviroment location (dust, extreem temp, etc.)?

What type of PBX phones do you have now that are designed to withstand such conditions?

to keep things simple:
Merlin switch, voice mail
BIS phones
What few we have instaled in "shop" floor locations survive barley (mostly due to abusive handling, mechanics are a bit rough....)

We would like to increase our facility coverage when we move to VOIP and this will involve outdoor locations both dirty and extreem temperature but I am concerned about the survivability or the units that i have seen listed on most sites under these conditions

Looks like the only ruggedized IP based phone is made in the uk so I will look in to other avenues thank you.

On our Nortel BCM 400 based system, we deploy i2002's and i2004's at our plants. Our phones go through hell with all of the concrete dust that floats around. It's so bad that I have replaced the pc's there with thin clients.

In the past year, out of 10 phones deployed in those conditions, I have not had to replace any of the IP phone sets. Be it I make sure that the plant managers take good care of them.
