I have a RAM failure on my Merlin Legend CKE4 R7 V9, so I purchased a refurbished CKE4 R7 V10. (I assumed that CKE4 Release 7, any version 9 or greater would be OK) I powered down the system, removed the original processor (V9) and installed the new (V10) processor and put my translation memory (PCMCIA) card into the version 10 processor. The system comes up. I set the date and time and proceeded to do a restore. The system validates that a good back up file is on the card, then I get a message, "RESTORE STOPPED; Board mismatch between control unit and file". I also have a win SPM (Ver 6.26) backup which I tried to restore; Similar error message (board mismatch). I feel that the new processor is running fine, as it starts up fine and allows me access to programming functions (also, no alarm light). Any recommendations are greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance

Jukeman,

Just take the WINSPM backup file from your R7-V9 and select "CONVERT" and choose the source file of your most recent backup. Convert to R7-V10 and then just restore it to the replaced processor. All should be fine. Do a memory card backup also just to have as a "hard copy" and store off site. Perform another WINSPM backup also.

Andrew, I have WIN SPM Version 6 and 8. On 6, the convert doesn't give me a choice to conver to. On 8, the only options to convert to are MAGIX, there don't seem to be Legend Releases or Version chioces?? Any recommendation? Thanks, Alex

PROBLEM SOLVED! I am thinking that since my replacement V10 processor was a refurbished unit, there was some programming for system cards that my Legend did not have. I simply did a "system renumber", which must have "introduced" my cards to the processor. After the system renumber, the reload from the memory card worked perfectly!

I do still have a question: Can I remove the translation storage card while the system is in operation, and replace it with another translation card. I'm interested in having a SPARE translation on a card that is kept in a safe place, off site (IE: not in the system processor)? Again, thank you
