Good day

Can anyone make some suggestions in terms of what hardware would be sufficiant in order to run Windows XP and Cognos 7.2 Any suggestions would be appreciated. :->

From the Cognos Website, they recommend a Pentium III at 500MHz & 512MB Ram (256 for client) and 3.5GB HDD + 0.5GB for Temp and another 0.5GB for 3rd party programs.
FWIW, I have Admin imp & transformer on an PIII with only 256Ram and it's manageable. However, our new twin 2.4GHz Xeon server (2Gb RAM with ultra SCSI disks) zips along and makes Upfront acceptable for users.
HTH,

Hi drlex

Thanks for this. I was also thinking of going a bit bigget than recommended. [thumbsup2]

Recce,
no problems - I should have said that the Cognos site is "requirement" not "recommended", but it's the usual IT rule of thumb of "spend as much as you can" for the longest life of the installation!
Would recommend SQL server too - my cube build times have gone from almost 8 hrs to under 10 mins (+10mins prior to update datamart in SQL server). Now just hoping no-one realises I can nap for a good few hours..... ;)
