Hardware/Software Tracking

I have been tasked to design an Access application to track hardware, software and licenses etc. I have a general idea of what is required but would appreciate if anyone has done this before and could advise me or point me to a site that would provide some guidence/model. Thanks much

Yes but it is rather limited in scope. Need something more comprehensive. Thought someone perhaps mights have already done something similiar and could share some ideas/pitfalls. But thanks for the response.......

I know it limited BUT it gives you some ideas to start with. Like maintenance of equipment where you can track all repair costs. You can modify the depreciation for thje different types. Add purchase and payment details. On employee add subforms for the equipment they have and one for what software they have. If equipment is loaded out this can be added. This is a few point to start yiu thinking what you can do. Also remenber to add audit tracking to record changes made by users.
PS I have been working on mine for 4 years and always come up with new ideas to improve.

Has your "boss" considered a commercial software package? There are many software/hardware/licensing/help desk packages out there that offer far more than you are likely to develop. Most offer LAN support which can poll workstations and automatically collect hardware and software information. Granted, they can be pricey, but how much is your time worth?

Try a Google search something like "hardware software tracking help desk" and you'll find a few choices - for starters.
