Hello, I am setting up a new Exchange system for a law firm of 80users. As far as hardware, what should I take into consideration... Meaning what should I get as far as RAM, STORAGE, CPU... etc...

Thanks for your help all...

What does the documentation say? Use the sizing calculator and you'll have all of the information required to implement a best practices solution.

I cam on here to ask for recommendations from other IT pro's. What the book says and what the real world needs could be different? Thanks for the very rude reply...

My point is that you have provided no information on which to answer. Nothing on mailbox sizes, clients connecting, HA and DR requirements, virtualization vs. physical, separate vs combined roles, retention policies, compliance requirements, backup needs, mobility, messaging hygiene, etc. There is a plethora of information needed before a plan can be developed.

If you want a supported, best practices solution, using the sizing information provided by the product group is a must.

Pat gave you a recommendation. As you said "Thanks for the very rude reply...". Back at you.

If your users are each sending and receiving 500 emails a day and you have to have 100% uptime, journaling, litigation and so on, that's different to shoe string budget and management refusing you a SAN due to only 5 people using email and the rest need periodic access.
