Hi,

When I just start the SUN it shows continuosly the message:

WARNING: /pci@1f, 0 /pci@1/ ide@3 (ata0):
ATA transport failed: reason 'reset': retrying command

It looks like something wrong with the Hard drive, but I'm not sure.
Any idea what I can check?

Many thanks

It could be a physical problem with the drive (or even perhaps overheating), but first of all check the cables to the drive are all securely connected.

I want to be good, is that not enough?

KenCunningham,

Under my point of view the cables are fine connected.
It looks like something wrong with the Hard Drive because it launches a kind of crashing sound when that error is showed.

Thanks

Yes, I should say that 'crashing' (perhaps 'grating'?) doesn't bode well!

I want to be good, is that not enough?

Yes, that "crashing sound" is an alarm that the drive manufacturers build into each drive to let you know when they are no longer working. [wink]

You'll need to replace the drive with a new one and reinstall the OS if that was the boot drive.

I have change the Hard Disk to other Ultra 5 platform and it works fine, so the problem should be in some other place of the hardware. Probably a cable problem as KenCunningham told me.
Thanks for the answers.
