Well, I have installed linux, it works great, i love it. Just that, I cant listen to any music, or anythign! No sounds comes out i dont think, but the comptuer speaker works, just not the normal speakers. :)

also, my zip drive isnt detecting properly. well, it has an icon on the desktop, but whenever i click on it, it says cannot find this or that.. someting like that..... btw, might it be because the disk is already windows formatted?

hehe, that JUST came to me, so how do i format my zip drive now? like, IN linux?

plz lemme know how everything works out. ciao!

TIA

Your sound problem may be that you haven't run the "sndconfig" command as root, if you run it the system will search for your sound card and run some sound tests and that should be it. If it says something about not finding "soundcore.o" then you have to re-compile your kernel with sound options for your soundcard. The zip-drive problem, I can't help you with as I don't have a zip-drive myself. But if you go to and search for zip-drive you will get the linux zip-drive how-to which should help you out. :) d3funct

The software required `Windows 95 or better', so I installed Linux.

ok, since im a super newbie to linux, i do not knnow what you are talking about. i mean, i sorta do, but not really.

first of all, you are saying to log on as root ??

btw, the password for root is the same pass as the other account ?
(for me, the login is rusty, and the pass is nothing)

so then, i go to a terminal, and then type in "sndconfig" ??

and that should work eh???

btw, the zip drive problem is only that the disk has a windows format on it. hehe

hiya!

i got it all figured out. thx for the help. works like a charm!!
