Hardware Firewall

Hi,

I'm currently looking into setting up a hardware firewall using an old PC I have and would be grateful for any advice and guidance on what software to use & how diificult it is to do. It's to be used at home to connect my personal PC to the net via ADSL.

I am not sure if this is for you because it requires knowledge in unix, but I have used an OpenBSD IP-less firewall and found it to be very stable and secure. You can even use an old pentium 1 machine for this purpose. Check out

Hi, but you did not state which operating system you are using. However, if it's windows 2000 pro or xp pro you might find the (syngate) free version software to be very good and at no cost. Plus if you want to go solid strong then buy the pro full version at $30 bucks or so. I use the free version on my windows dual boot machine and find it to be invaluable. Lastly, I do no work for syngate either, just trying to help. Lets, know more about this setup etc.
