Hardware Error on Adaptec Toast 4.1.1

Every CD tht I attempt to burn using Adaptec toast 4.1.1 with an iomega Zip burner gets around four secs into writing the lead-in, stops, and then displays this.
Sense Code-0x73,0x03

It also says that it is a medium error.

I am burning at 2x.

Has this burner EVER worked?
What's your system? OS?

Are ther other peripherals attached to this Mac?

What kind of media are you using? manufacturer and size?

I am burning audio CD's.
Yes, I've burned many cd's using this burner.
I am using Mac OS 9.1
There is a modem, a scanner, a floppy disc drive, and a printer attached to the mac. They are all hooked into a USB multiport that is then placed int o the macs USB port.

Toast 4.2.3 is avalible I believe! If you can't fix it in 20 call someone who can.
