Hi,

I'm running Arcserve 2000 on a Windows 2000 Adv Server and I have 3 external HP DLT80e daisy chained. I'm backing up 8 W2000 servers totaling 158gb. I have hardware compression set on all 3 drives but it doesn't seem to be working cause it's calling for a 4th tape now. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Tony

Is the compression light on the tape drives lit when the tapes are in? -----------------------------------------------------

Yes, the compression lights are on. Do I have to enable to software compression in the backup job?

No, Only use one compression - Hardware or software. Don't use both

Agreed. Try putting your tape in, setting your tape density including hardware compression on (if it is applicable to that tape drive), the formatting the tape to ensure that the tapes are at the maximum density for maximum capacity. -----------------------------------------------------
