Hi all,

I want to audit the hardware in a Linux server. I do not know Linux very well so I am thinking could I run a utility from my Windows client which will audit a remote linux server? If not any other ideas for me to capture hardware details?

Any suggestions???

Thanks.

a look at the /proc filesystem will give you loads of infomation.

cat /proc/cpuinfo
cat /proc/meminfo
cat /proc/devices
cat /proc/partitions

etc...

If I could have sex each time I reboot my server, I would definitely prefer Windoz over Linux!

dmidecode to query the Desktop Management Interface information in the BIOS.

x86info to get extended information about the CPUs.

lspci (or /proc/pci to list devices on the PCI bus.
