I had red dot/short-line appearing on the screen when I move or resize a window. It also happens in other situations such as simple line-by-line scrolling, but not page up or down.

I've cleaned the card and its fan, replugged its cable. But it did not help.

When I turn off hardware acceleration (to NONE), the red dot/line is gone. Any level of acceleration would bring them back.

Does it mean my card is dead? :(

XP SP2, Nvidia Geforce4 4200 Ti

Thanks!

I just realized that disabling acceleration only reduces the garbage, not all.

It certainly sounds like you have card damage which is resulting in display corruption.
To be sure, install this card in another machine to see if this corruption continues or not.

Maybe you need to upgrade the card's firmware. Such problems can happen if you mix old/new hardware/software.

Good luck.

Did you do any overclocking ?
Overclocking leads to chip damage if you push it too far without proper cooling.

Pascal.

No overclocking at all. I don't even play 3D games often.

I put the card in another machine, same problem. So I guess the card is dead. :(
