Hi all,

I am wondering if it is possible to "hard reset" these phones to factory defaults? I cant find this information anywhere but find it hard to believe its not possible.

I have opened one up and cant fine a battery, jumpers etc etc.

Any ideas?

Cant you out the phone, And rebuild it then you could see if it went back to defaulf settings, not sure,,, I have 80 ip phones on a system and have never did this ,but i will try it tomorrow.... cindy

It depends on what you mean is hard resetting. If you want to change how the phone is working together with the pbx you have to programme the pbx. If it is the settings you can change on the phone via the menu, the only thing I can think of is to upload new software to it via SS, where you can force download to a single set. If it is the actual settings on where to connect etc., you'll have to manually set something else on the phone..

Sorry, I should have been more specific! I did mean restting the software on the phone to defaults. Basically there are a few phones here not booting correctly or are stuck in a config loop and I was hoping to reset them to defaults and start again, rather than send them back to our vendor.

I didnt think to download the new f/w to the phone from the SS as I was advised you can only do this to ALL IP sets (we have 1200) and not individual ones like you can with a digital 390x for example.

I2007, can you explain a bit more how you could do this?

if you remove power and plug back in - when the nortel shows on the screen you can press the softkeys from left to right. Yoiu have about 3 seconds after Nortel is displayed.

This will get you into the setup menu and you can make any modifications you need.

Some of the phones I have wont boot to this screen and even if they do some of them are unable to be confirgured correctly for my VOIP network, they ask for every DHCP option even though they are set to auto DHCP for exmaple. Hence why i want to revert it back to factory defaults and start again.
