We are migrating to a new server...an HP LH6000

The HP LH6000 recognizes the drives but the SCO UNIX does not. Im not sure of how to define the mounts for the O/S. We are utilizing 5, 36gig, 10k drives and utilizing 2 NetRAID controllers with 128mb cache.

Hi,

If hard disks are connected to RAID controllers then you must create arrays and configure logical drives. This you can do with the help of utilities that come up with RAID controllers. For Ex. SmartStart CD for Compaq array controllers. (Array configuration utility. This you can download from Compaq site.) Or watch out for a message that pops up when system is performing POST.(After discovering the RAID controller). A function key press (F8 or so) should allow you to create arrays and logical drives.

After creating arrays and configuring logical drive controllers you have to run mkdev <controller name>

See the documentation that came with RAID controller for device name.

First it makes entries in mscsi file. Then after reboot you will be able to configure logical drives using mkdev.

Are you trying to install UNIX on the new drives on the new server, or are they just additional drives added on to the server that already has UNIX installed? Are the drives IDE or SCSI?

It sounds to me like you may not be loading the BTLD correctly for the RAID controller. Check the documentation or NETRAID's website for BTLD instructions.

If you have another controller providing connection for the CDRom, there may also be a conflict with that, and you will need to use a BTLD string for all of the controllers.
