i have no idea what happened, but when i tried to move my 2nd hard drive into an external box, vista somehow got me to make a new partition, and now i have an unformatted hard drive. i really want those files back, so is there any way to do it? i've tried a variety of hard drive recovery programs, but they haven't had any luck.....

it's all of my music files. if it was files from work, i wouldn't mind nearly so much!

thanks,
kevin

I wouldn't think it "wrote over the partition" just changed the table of contents to blank. Should be relatively easy to fix with a program like GetDataBack at or others that can rebuild the file structure, I would be cautious and connect it as it originally was connected.
