I am using a Compaq Deskpro 4000, 133MHz with a Maxtor hard drive 1.6 Gig. running Windows 95. After the PC has not been used for approx. 15-20 mins. the drive appears to be frozen, no keyboard or mouse. Have to turn PC off and back on to use PC. Other than this PC works great. So far have disabled power management in setup and have set power timeout in Windows to 300 minutes. Any possible solutions I'm overlooking.

Set hard disk to spin down NEVER in power settings. You can change the power profile to "Always On" and set the drive spindown time manually.

Disable APM in BIOS.

Check Compaq's site, if memory serves there's an update required for bios to correct part of this now that I think about it. I'm just too tired right now to go look :)
