G'day,

Is it normal for the hard drive to be hot to the touch? Thank you.
 
Slightly warm yes. Hot, not necessarily but really depends on your system.

Make sure all internal fans are working and you are probably OK. When hard drives go they usually encounter a problem with the wiper arm which can be identified by a clicking sound.

They are warm to hot.....What is hot to you????

Especially the high RPM models i.e. Raptors or SCSI types.

You might try to measure the case temp
