Had 3 hard drive failures on same machine, same time.
Machine was dual boot, 1900 mhtz protected by surge protector & ups...
Was able to change board on 80 gb hd & recover latest images of os's and some data, but other data was on hd #2
which was "backed up" on hd #3.

changing hd card would not allow drive 2 to show (60 gb maxtor)in bios. Drive 3 (60 gb west dig) would show in bios but platters would not spin. Opened drive, and spun platter. Platters spin, but head pickup would not read & was bouncing back & forth and no longer recognized in bios.
Changed head & pick-up assembly off identical drive ( including board) and same situation. Data to recover important but not critical. ( not worth over $300.00 )

Any suggestions where I could read more about hd internal reconstruction ?

Thank you, dhsvcs
