Just made the biggest mistake of my life. I have this harddrive that I keep everything I need for my computers. It has my life on it and I just ruined it. Because my brothers computer has been acting up we reinstalled windows on it. I keep all my programs and drivers on the harddrive so I put it in his computer, only for the computer to still not be working right. So I have him reinstall window's again, but I ended up deleting the partition on the good harddrive that I put in there when reinstalling windows'. Now the harddrive doesn't even appear when I put it in my computer.

Is there anyway to get data off of the harddrive that window's deleted the partition at window's install?

User's have reported good success with GetDataBack (
You'll want a second drive to recover to, and don't write anyrhing to the drive you are trying to recover data from unless it's a last resort. The less disturbance to the drive, the better chances of data recovery.

make sure the drive is not connected till you are ready to get the data...the longer it is in the system the less recoverable data and more corrupt files will occur.

I have used Get Data Back on a drive that had the XP partition destroyed and was formatted. I still recovered almost everything I needed.
Great product. Just make sure you follwo Freestone and firewolfrl's advice and use a larger HD than the original to recover to.
Good Luck.

Having had a chance to work on this drive but after I ran active partition recovery...I bought before reading your suggestions....

Anyways the program found the partition and I was able to see that all my files were still there, but when I put the partition back on nothing realy happend except that the computer once again reads that there is a harddrive there...

Is there somthing else I need to do in order for the harddrive to be all set?

One thing I was a little concernd about was that there was still a little bit of storage that was unallocated would this cause the problem?

You no longer have a file allocation table that lists the actual files still on the disk. You will need to get one of the utilities we talked about and give it a try. Be prepared that many of the file names may show up but many of the files may be null or corrupt. Try Get Data Back
Good luck.
