Which HDD is the best or are they as good as each other?
MAXTOR D540X ATA 100 (40GB)
or
SEAGATE ST340823A (40GB)
Thanks in advance for any advice!

For the Maxtor D540X:

Speed: 5400 RPM; Seek time: 9 ms (Avg); Cache Buffer: 2 MB Warranty: 3 Years

For the Seagate ST340823A:

Speed: 5400 RPM; Seek time: 8.9 ms (Avg); Cache Buffer: 1 MB Warranty: 1 Years

Based on the specs, it appears that the Seagate drive has a "slightly" faster access time. However, the warranty isn't as good and the buffer is wimpy. I'd go with the Maxtor if you're deciding between these two.
