Right first off i have serious problems.
A few weeks ago a virus entered my computer and deleted sum of my windows files (which Wont allow Windows to load)
so i went to the shops and brought a new 40gb hd.
then i stuck it in and put it to MAster. Right now comes the problem area. As the Thign loaded up and i put my windows disk etc in, i came to windows disk menu and it said that i have to partition my new hard drive( i assume that is formatting it or sumthing)Then the computer restarted And it loaded up etc but then i got a message saying "Missing Operation Files" or sumthing like that. now i thought of doing windows disk again But it wont allow me to load it up. Can Anyone Help me I really need my computer for my job and i have not got the money to buy anything else. Open TO any suggestions

If you're going to load ME on the new drive, you need to partition and format it first. You don't say what status of old (virus hit) drive is, but for now just disconnect it.

Set the bios to boot from floppy drive first (it may already be that way), and boot from an ME boot floppy (you can download one from Start the machine without CD support, and at the command prompt run fdisk. Enter Y in the enable large disk support box, then use its menu to create a single primary partition, using the whole drive. when that's completed, escape out and restart machine - booting from floppy again, with ME install CD in the drive. At dos prompt, run format C:. Then, when complete, run x:\setup (where x: is the CD drive letter - you'll see which has been allocated as the floppy boots. You should then be able to complete the install in the normal manner. You can reconnect the original drive as slave now (don't forget to run anti-virus check on it before you do anything else - AVG is a good free one if you need one).

PS. If you've left something out of your account - eg, you have created a partition, you can either just format this exisitng partition or remopve & recreate it, then format it - all from floppy boot - before starting install. Though if there is an unformatted partition available, and you boot from install CD, it should prompt you to let it partition it before starting install.
