I had an external hard drive from Seagate, plugged it in with a power source that was a differnt voltage and it no longer works. I would like to know if there anyone knows a way to get that hard drive working again? Or if there is a way to make it just an internal hard drive?

You could try opening up the drive and pulling out the nternal hard drive, it should be nothing more than a r3egular internal drive, that you can plug into your computer.

Whether it will work or not I cannot say.

Hopefully all you did was fry the enclosure and not the internal hard drive.

OK I tried to install it and when I get everything connected and try to turn on the computer the light that indicates on or off just blinks yellow when normally it's green. The computer doesn't turn on at all. What does that mean?

YOU Smoked the hard drive and it is shorting down the power supply and preventing the PC from running. Throw the HD away and buy a new one.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

I would have to agree. The hard drive probably has a short, and the computer doesn't turn on to prevent damage to itself.

What type of drive is the hard drive? SATA? EIDE?

The only other thing would be that you connected the drive wrong and its also causing a short but its unlikely. Its more likely that the drive is now toast.
