Hard drive performance

Does anyone have any idea of the performance I should be getting out of my Maxtor +60 30gb hard drive, my system specs are Gigabyte 7zxr M/Board, Athlon 1gig processor and 256 mb ram. I have run a benchmark test and the results I got were around 11000kb p/sec write and 20000kb p/sec read.

I want to know if this is what I should be getting.

Forgot to mention the Maxtor +60 hard drive is ATA 100 compatible.
