Here we go. This one will definately test the forum! ;)

I have been searching for an answer for this problem for quite sometime and need it resovled as soon as possible.

I own a 160Gig drive that was partition thus - C:(100Gig) D:(52Gig)

It turns out that this was not practical so decided to change it using Partition Magic 8 to C:(20Gig) D: (132Gig)

All went well until the computer restarted after I had resized C: to (20Gig) D:(80Gig) Leaving 52Gig Unpartitioned

I though create a partition that is 52Gig and 'merge' with my D: to leave my D: with 132Gig - Yes?

Sounds pretty straight forward to me but it went all sorts of wrong.

Once rebooted the third time (after merging blank partitioned with D: ) I ended up with this (see image below)

As you can see, I have ended up with an Extended partition using my 80Gig of Data which is currently unavailable and a G: 132Gig blank partition. Which is hardly likely seeing as the Extended partition is using half of it.

My basic question is can I get my Data back from this and how or has it gone completely down the pan!?

A data recovery app would probably do it - but how much actual 'data' to recover (because you'll need to recover it to somewhere). Google for data recovery apps - some of them have an demo version which will let you see some of what you could recover (ie, see if it will work).
