I have a MSI KN7G2 IG and a AMD Athlon XP 2100. I am also running Win XP Home. The Hard Drive is a IBM 80 G 7200 rpm. I has been running great for 5 months no problem. The I add a 4 GB Quantum Fireball. Once I added the slave hard drive I could not boot to my Master hard drive because it would not show up in the BIOS, but I booted into the 4 GB Hard Drive becuase I had Win 98 on it and it worked. Then I unhooked the slave and wanted to just go back how the system was before. I removed the slave. When I booted back up it would not recognise the Hard Drive. I went in the BIOS to do auto detect and set what boots firt, and still no detection of the Hard Drive.I checked all the cables IDE and Power. The drive would spinn up and make the sound like it was behing accessed because and the IDE light went on for it. I have tried everything.

Could I have broken the hard drive without touching it. All I did was slide the 4 GB Hard Drive in. This really suck cause I need that computer and all my stuff is on the drive.

Please Help?
Thank You so much

So the machine boots (to POST screen), but doesn't detect the hard drive? So, you get 'missing system disk' error?

You have got the drive jumpered correctly?

Has anything else been changed since it worked, before you installed the 4GB drive? (eg, like jumpers on 80GB drive?)

Have you tried drive on the secondary IDE (where CD(s| are connected)?

Have you access to another machine - to see if drive detected there?
