So a few weeks ago my pc got the blue screen of death, and i foolishly turned it off during the memory dump. When i came to power it back up i got the message 'do not detect any drive' or something along those lines. Yesterday just out of interest i tried to power it up and it worked, so i reformatted and installed everything over again. Today i got another blue screen error saying 'unknown hard error', so i powered it down for 10 mins and tryed again. It worked for all of ten minutes. then i got another memory dump screen of death error and my hard drive will not power up on boot. Are there any ways to solve the problem?

check the power connector to the drive...

also check the seating of the IDE/SATA cable...

download the drives manufacturers tools to check the drive, it may be damaged...

thanks for the reply, i fixed it about an hour ago changing some bios settings, not sure how they were related though xD

Might be worth running the hard drive manufacturer's disk diagnostics on that drive, just to check it's not developing any bad blocks, problems, etc...
