In startup hard drive not dected in startup from win98 startup disk or in bios either. Tried to fdisk error said no fixed drive dected. Can someone help?
If this is a new drive, and it can't be detected you may have to cap it down to 37 GB or lower
There maybe a setting on the jumpers that lets you limit the capacity of the drive, first try this setting to have the BIOS detect the drive. If that doesnt work try the following:
- Try Hard Drive in a friends PC making sure their PC is reasonably up to date and see whether their PC can detect it
- If it works in their system its probably best to go for the dreaded BIOS upgrade!, only joking, The BIOS upgrade is great as long as you definately get the correct flash program for your system
You will need to give us more details on your Hard Drive and system specs.
- If the Hard Drive does n't work on a friends PC then try another PC to be sure if possible or get a replacement Hard Drive from where you purchased it
