hard drive making clicking sounds

Hey all,

Hubby is driving me bat****. When we try to install a hard drive it is making a clicking sound. I've told him the drive is gone (not working) but he is sure it's a bios OR hard drive setting problem. Who is right? Do i need to give you guys more info on the sys? Will that info effect your answer to first question.. Help he's driving me crazy.. lol
