I installed a 60 gig hard drive and formatted it NTFS and installed a 40 gig hard drive and had 2 paritions one was FAT32 and the other NTFS, the FAT32 parition had data on it and the NTFS was empty, so i used parition magic to format the NTFS to FAT32 and Merge them, It formatted okay, but the merge was BAD! The c and d drive is gone and windows doesnt see it, but Parition magic says the data I want is still on it. Windows XP is on G, how do I recover the data and copy it to G

A data recovery app - eg would be my suggestion.

PS. You'll probably already be thinking this - but restructuring partitions is always risky (PM is a good app, but..) - so always good idea to back up data beforehand.

Also - I've tried what you did several times using PM (converted one partition to same filestore as adjacent, then merged them). It has gone wrong every time. I'm just notinmg this as a further warning for others reading this thread.

It sounds like a very tricky problem. NTFS to FAT conversions can cause all kinds of problems if they fail.

If the data is important, you may need to go to an expert in these matters. Try . They do not charge to look at it, and have a set fee if recoverable.
