hardware help

Am hoping that someone out there might know how to get around this issue .

I recently bought an external hard drive(120GB), and it operates fine on my laptop, which is running XP. But my desktop dosnt seem to like or acknowledge its existence as a drive, only as a USB device that is errored for an unknown reason, desktop is running Millenium.

Have tried to find drivers to correct this, but none have made any diff. My old external hard drive(4GB) works and interacts fine with the desktop and millenium, so why dosnt this new one??.

If anyone out there has an idea i would love to hear it.

Cheers.

Bardman.

And what kind of filesystem?

Give the wrong symptoms, get the wrong solutions.

me can´t see/write to ntfs, you will have to have at least one partition with fat32 for access (there is a workaround, but a costly one).
is the drive usb2.0?
and you have usb 2.0 on desktop pc (and driver for usb2.0 foe me?
btw, what board/chipset do you have? im searching for usb2.0 driver for a sis748 board/chip but couldt not get some for me),
