I am running 98SE with a primary 80GB HD on a K7S5A Mother board. I have now added a Western Digital 120GB HD and set as slave on the first drives IDE cable. After booting from DOS and running Fdrive the new drive only returns a capacity of 1.9GB in windows although it setup shows it as 120GB. I created a DOS partition in FAT32 and tried formatting from windows and DOS but still get my 120GB drive as a 1.9GB. Any help would be much appriciated.

So you have run Fdisk and then formatted the drive. I know that FAT (not 32) has a physical barrier at right around 2 gigs. I would suggest you create an up-to-date boot disk. You can find instructions and all the nessicary files at

Thanks Haze and Wolluf,

I will try the updated boot disk although I did Enable Large Drive Support but the 2GB problem still happened. My methode is this. Power off, disconnect original drive in case of accidents, boot from floppy that I made from the machine, identify new drive, select large disk support and then format. I will delete the present format and try again.

Thanks everyone, loaded MS fix for 64GB and tried new boot disk, all worked well and I now have a formatted 120GB drive.
