Any Idea where I can purchase the seagate 1350 MB hard drive. to replace the defective one that I pulled out of the unit? Or can I use any 12mm ide hard drive?
I have two VS sytems revision 4.1 and moved the hard drive from the good one to the bad one and it now works. So all I need is the hard drive. The companies I talked to all want at least $250 plus s/h to repair the unit. I can put the 4 screws in myself thankyou. I don't want to have to pay someone around $200 to do that.
I was wondering how you solved your problem with the VM hard drive. I have 2 VM pc's and one hard drive is bad. I have not figured out how to copy the program from my good one to my bad one once I got a replacement drive.
Hi All,
The OS is a version of concurrent CP/M. You can try older versions of Norton Ghost, but I have not been successful. The best way is to just buy the preloaded drive and stick it in. If you want warranty, you may have to send the voicemail out for repair. Have the power supply gone over while you are at it.

We don't recommend trying to replace the older Seagate 1350 2.5" hard drive as they have proven to be very unreliable over the years in Partner VS mails.
While I know the urge for all us "techies" to fix our own components - and sometimes it does save us money - there are also times to have "Mr. Goodwrench" take a look-see! Sure it costs $$$ to professionally repair a voice mail mod, but there are many times that the repair is not just a simple "hard drive" swap. On board components fail from power surges or ESD issues - especially if you open the shell without ESD protection in a high ESD area - etc.
If you are a field tech - it is also worth considering what happens WHEN the "refurbed" hard drive you bought from "Vinnie" in NY fails ....
Let's say the drive fails in 6 months ... your customer calls all hot as he's losing $$$ not having his VM up. You have to run the service call both ways - buy another $150.00 Vinnie hard drive and then reprogram it and hopefully retain your customer.
Just an alternative thought to the frequently asked issue ... WHY NOT JUST BUY A HARD DRIVE????
