Hi,

Does anyone can help me understanding how can I switch an hard drive to factory mode?

Thanks in advance.

To try visit their website, most hard-disk manufacturer has utility programs to do it.

davidmcolaco - what do you mean by
switch an hard drive to factory mode?

Are you trying to completely wipe the drive - something like killdisk (google to find) might help there.

Hi,

We can only read some values and rewrite the hard disk firmware if the drive is in factory mode.
That's what I want.

Regards,

David

As LSTAN points out each of the manufactures (maxtor, Seagate, WesternDigital, Hitachi, Samsung etc) has FREE tools to download from their respective sites.
These tools are brand specific but are designed to carry out all sorts of tests and evaluations including firmware.
