Could someone assist me and tell me how I could divide my drive into 2 making the 2nd drives?
I would like to make sure all my files are kept in the first drive and having no files on my second drive.

If I want to get back and have 1 only drive again, what do I need to do?

Thanks for letting me konw...

First, making your drive into two drives (or partitions to be correct) you need to fdisk (destroy the existing drive) and then using fdisk re-reate it with two partitions.

However, if you are looking at keeping your data then, unless you have everything backed up don't use fdisk...yet. Backup everything first then you can use fdisk from a bootdisk ( in case you don't have one).

To keep all your data you'll need a program like Partition Magic. This'll allow you to non-destructively create a new partiton (2nd drive) while keeping your data/files.

Decide first what you want to do then let us know as we can help you better!

Cheers

If you are planning on going back to 1 drive with live data, then the partition magic or another of the partitioning programs is the way to go.

There is a freeware program which is meant to do the same as Partition Magic called (surprisingly enough) Partition Resizer. You can find it at

Note this is NOT a recommendation - I've never used it myself so don't know whether it workd or not. Has anybody else used it?

I used an earlier version of this app (Partition Resizer - I think it was same one) - about 6 years ago. It worked, but not very user friendly. Partition Magic isn't free, but very easy to use!
