I have this gigabyte slot one motherboard that a friend gave to me, I tested it out, worked went and installed it into my case. I just assumed that a Maxtor 80 GB would boot. Anyways long story short, the motherboard seems to be picky about HD's, the computer wont detect my Western Digital, detects Maxtor but won't go past Autodetect, boots with a Fujitsu and Quantum (about 4 Gb or less). Anyways I was hoping if someone could lend a hand and see what else I can tell you. Also when you Autodetect the maxtor in bios or try to manually set it, the compuiter locks and freezes.
Thanks for the help!

If that is the Gigabyte GA-7IXE [I not 1], it has a BIOS limit of 32GB [I have one]. There is a BIOS flash program on Gigabyte's website to allow up to 75GB. The Slot A motherboards are, in computer terms, old, I built mine in Mar. 2000. You can get the BIOS update here:

THis is the model number of the motherboard GA-6BXC, Slot 1, would flashing the bios solve my problem??
