Hi, I have been reading through a number of posts about hard drive issues and hard drives that make noises when the computer boots up. I am currently trying to recover some data from a Seagate 60GB HDD, that is making reasonably loud clicking noises when the computer boots up. So far, I have not been able to get the bios to recognise the drive at all, slave or master, nor have I been able to get any Disk Manager boot software tools such as Ontrack, Maxtor or Seagate Tools to recognise the drive.
So I guess Im just asking for confirmation here really..,
Is there nothing I can do to get this hard drive working again?.., even if it could be temporary??
Any thoughts or posts would be greatly apreciated, and I will always return favours! Many Thanks., Adey.

If your computer can't recognise the drive try another pc. Try it as a slave drive and backup any info if you gain access.

You can try recovery software (search net) to get data off but if your machine can't see it niether will the software. If what you have is really important you can send it to a data recovery shop (expensive). If you're lucky it'll be under warranty and you'll get a new replacement (they may even be able to provide some data recovery). If not then chaulk it up to experience and ensure you have, in future, a good backup procedure.

Cheers

Thx to all who respond ;)
