My hard drive was not working right it would click during the boot up and then start working. After using the computer for just a minute or two if would freeze up. I replaced the hard drive. I had some problems after installing windows. When I went in to install office 2000 it would freeze during the install. I tried installing another program and it did the same thing. Now my computer will not boot up. During the boot up the hard drive is just clicking. It sounds like it is winding up and then a click. Can someone help me?

Either you got another bad drive or your power supply is supplying enough electricity to the drive. Try unplugging any other device that is using the same set of wires. Or try a different set of wires from the p/s. If the drive gets too hot due to a lack of sufficient power, it may be being damaged.

Thanks for the tip...I'm going to replace the power supple I hope that is the problem.

Have you tried a virus scan. My computer had a trojan a while back that would do kinda the same thing. I was scared the drive was blown because of the clicking, but Norton killed the virus and the clicking stopped and so did the freezing. Give it a shot before you start spending money on swapping parts.

Well I'm going to try that and see what kind of results I get. Thanks Xemus
