Hello Fellow Tech. Users;

I have a problem a company here in the Philippines is
offering a service which day say can bring harddisk that cannot be detected back to life but the problem is they will be erasing all the file content because I heared them say that they were going to reset the harddrive. And if I wanted them to recovery files from that HD it would cost a lot of money. Can anybody give me an easier solution to my problem. Thanks and more power to everybody using this forum.

Is the hard drive truely dead? Does it power up? Is it a data drive or a OS drive? Is it just not recognized in the BIOS/OS? It's not a problem...It's just a Blood Pressure Monitor

Find another drive the same model that works swap the electronics. This is of course the drive's mechanicis are ok. No chugging, making haneous sounds.

you can try a program Easy Recovery i had the same problem to one of my hard drive. You will need to have 1 hard drive as master and install Easy Recovery, you will then put your troubled hard drive as slave, run Easy Recovery, then you will be able to access your troubled hard drive and recover the files to your master hard drive.

PC INSPECTOR™ File Recovery is a data recovery program that supports the FAT 12/16/32 and NTFS

6 years old.

Drive Rescue (freeware) OS: Win9x/NT/ME/2000/XP
(English)
Drive Rescue is a program for exploring your hard disk, and locating lost files on it. The idea
for this program originated from processing a disk with Scandisk--which suddenly contained no
data. Since off-the-shelf Windows methods could not recover any of it, this program was
successfully created, to find important information of the file system, to look for lost data
and to restore it.
Program description: Download v1.9d (1,007,746 bytes)
-----------------------------------------

Only weighing in under 2k, and taking up about 3-5k of memory, this little device driver scans
your entire drive for lost partitions, it then assigns read-only drive letters to them to allow
you to recover data.

If this is not a hardware issue, try sprinrite by steve gibson. This will low level format a hard drive preserveing contents. It also does test on the electronic components
