Hard DIsk wont mount...

I have a dedicated server...
With Cent OS

The HD 120gig, the server reboot and never started up...
Aparently the root had been cleared of all its files..

They have added a 160gig hd and put my original drive as a secondary.. Problem is my original drive isnt mounting...

They say they are getting errors...

I dunno what todo the hard drive contains alot of my files.. Hopefully it still does! Becuase the site obviously was stored ona different partition...

Anyone have any idea why this drive doesnt mount?

Or any tips on recovering data on drives that arent mounting in linux.

Other than that does linux and the new drive work ok? Does linux see the original drive? What does it call the old drive? You can find most of this out by typing "dmesg | less" at the command shell.

I get it saying...
Bios detects both drives..

The new hd i put in has a fresh copy of cent os...
The second drive says this..

hdc2: can't read superblock

hdc, so your old drive is pluged in as a secondary master. If so, have you tried doing a file system check?

Also, replace your IDE cable with a newer one or place them both on the same controller. Change the old drive's jumper to slave.

Having a device hdc2 seems odd to me. Usually, it's hdx1, hdx5, hdx6, etc. Hmmm.

If you type 'cfdisk /dev/hdc' can it see the disk and partitions? (or fdisk)
If it does, you could run try fsck on the filesystems.

can't read superblock..
That sounds like an ext2 partition (or ext3, I suppose).
You may want to run a fsck.ext2 on the partition and see what it tells you.
