I'v got an IBM Deskstar 307045 46.1Gb disk that the controller has died on. Now I need some data from this disk, before I pay some recovery company lots of money, if I buy one of these disks and replace the controller on mine with the controller from the one I buy, what's the chances of this working? anyone?

Thanks

Patrick

For this to have any chance of success, you'd need to get exactly the same make and model of hard drive, and also the circuit board would need to be the same revision number. How sure are you that the drive motor is still working ok?

Good luck.
