Hard disk controller 1 failure?

when i boot this particular pc "hard disk controller 1 failure appears and when in bios nothin i do seems to get rid of this msg when i reboot. when i press f1 to continue i get "no boot device available!" can anyone help?

Usually a failure of the motherboard HD controller.
May require M/B replacement or cripple on-board controller and add expansion controller. Ed Fair
