It's Mother's day? Oh crap; looks like it's garage forecourt flowers, again.

Carlsberg don't run I.T departments, but if they did they'd probably be more fun.

...in the US Grenage, the UK one was in March.

I want to be good, is that not enough?

In NL, DK, IT it is also 2nd Sunday of May
In BE it is Aug 15 (RC origin) though 2nd Sunday of May rule counts also (there are regional variations) ...

Oh dear, that's even worse.

...And Happy Mothers Day to all you pround Fathers, as well. For without you, there would be far fewer Mothers. [wink]

Hi,
Dave, I hear that in some areas of Utah, the relationship between Fathers and Mothers is One-to-Many [wink]

Yeah, Just think of how tough it is here when a kid comes out of the closet. Following sitting his folks down on the couch to tell them, with perspiration pouring down his forehead, he begins:
Dad, Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom...
JK...[rofl]

Has anyone notice that, in the UK at least, Mother's Day is just 3 months before Father's Day

.... or is that 9 months AFTER Father's Day [smile]

UK monther's day is actually Mothering Sunday. There isn't a Fathering Sunday. Is Father's day just a 'Celebration Card' invention to boost card sales in the lull between Christmases.

Johnwm - have you observed Indians from India counting? They don't count like westerners: they count 4 on each finger and 16 on one hand.

xwb, I always thought it was 12 (dozen) on one hand - 4 fingers x 3 phalanges, which you count with the thumb of the same hand and 144 (gross) on two hands: 12 phalanges x 12 phalanges.

Or is this from China?

HTH,

It varies. Those who count to 16 on one hand use 3 phalanges plus the tip. That makes it 4; 4x4 = 16, 256 with 2 hands.

Chinese have a different one handed system. I only know the thumb and little finger together means 6.

That's because they found it to be too "labour" intensive to track down actual biological fathers. <grin>
