I am running RH7 and Apache 1.3. I thought I would install qmail, but my system seems to hang when I tar -x qmail-1.0.3.tar. Same goes for any of the other switches.
Any idea why?

Hi,
Try 'tar xvf qmail-1.0.3.tar' to see if you get any obvious error messages - e.g. archive may be corrupt & you need to re-download. Otherwise it would presumably be a dodgy version of tar for some reason. If you do appear to have a problem with tar itself try the 7.1 rpm --> ftp://rpmfind.net/linux/redhat/7.1/en/os/i386/RedHat/RPMS/tar-1.13.19-4.i386.rpm .
Download and install as root with
rpm -Uvh tar-1.13.19-4.i386.rpm
