Hi,

Does anyone know what a hanging indent is and how to use it in Microsoft Word? (Its symbol looks like an upside down staple).

Thanks.

Kara

Kara,

Selest the paragraph you want to apply the hanging indent.

View the Ruler -- menu item view/Ruler

To the left of the ruler bar are icons that set the FIRST LINE indent and the HANGING indent.
Code:
v - first line indent
^ - Hanging indent
Drag the FIRST LINE indent to the right the desired amount and

VOLA! :)

Skip,

And for the other part of your question (what's a hanging
indent), this paragraph has one! It just means that the
first line goes to the margin and succeeding lines are
indented equally.

Sloth is the mother of invention. Necessity is just a mother...
