Hi,
I have a client who wants his 5340s to ring on a incoming second line while he is talking handsfree on the first line.
Even a sound notification or burst ring will be okay.
Of course his phone is a multiline, and he can receive 2 calls at the same time.

I tried Ring/Ring Continuous/Delay Ring/Delay Ring Continuous.
I check the COS as per mitel documentation.
I tried other phone type.
But, it works fine Just when using the Handset, but not on handsfree mode !!!!
Any Help will be appreciated.
Thank you

I believe it wont work because it needs to use the same speaker that is in use for speaker phone to ring the set.

cknipe is correct. Phone will not ring when it is in hands free mode.

Thx CKnipe
Thx SXWizard
But, even no simple "BEEP" to let you know that you have a second call??!!
Nortel will do it...I test itwith BCM and CS1000

Anyway,if you guys are already test it, so it seems the Mitel has be engineer like this.
Thanks

It will not work on the Mitel, period. Once the speaker is operating in handsfree mode (handling a call), a subsequent incoming call will not interrupt or intrude on that speech path in any way. It's the design of the beast.

Tpbs, I could fill a novel with the things a Mitel can do that the Nortel cannot.

Apples and Oranges.

When the experts tell you it can't be done, don't whine.

kwbMitel,
don't overreact.
Knowledge is my target.
You can also focus on it and make it yours, instead of giving Sermons and criticism...
And if you have any technical question, I will be more than glad to help you...

tbps, not sure your software load but what about doing something with a person ring group? Might have to drop the multiline and use a phantom extension as the second line. If you don't select one busy all busy that might work. Haven't tested just a quick guess and you need MCD 4 for personal ring group I believe.

mmm, what about camp on, that should give a tone through the current converstaion, again haven;t tried it but worth a go

Is it definately ringing you need? If so for what reason? You can put multiple keys of the same number on your phone and when a second call is "ringing" it with flash to give you an indication? (i know you mentioned this in your first post, just checking)

I accomplished this using a free SIP client on the desktop PC and adding the second lines of the phone to it. When the second phone rings the PC rings.

Better yet, see if the user would be ok with a headset. Then you get ringing and whoever is on the other end of the call isn't annoyed that they're on a speaker phone.

Hi,
Loopyloo, mitelmat , thx for you suggestion,
My system is 4.0,
I test your senarios ( Phantom , Camp on ...) but always, it doesn't give you a notification whene you are on Handsfree mode. and remember we are talking only handsfree mode...
UncleRalph,
I know the headset will resolve the problem....But :( you know sometimes, very special clients with very special needs...
anyway, Thx, I like your idea to work arround the problem, and you gave me also another idea of testing it with the Unified Communication Express Software...I am gonna test it and I will keep you posted guys...
Thx

As stated from CKnipe and SXWizard from earlier post: when the speaker for a conference/ handsfree call is in use, the speaker is used.

Ringing of the IP set comes from a speaker from a wav. file and will not interupt the original call in progress, when the speaker is being used.

There are only visual lights that can flash when a second call is introduced to the set when the speaker is obtained for other reasons.

I dont know if the 2nd line is just a multicall of the first line or if its a seperate DN that you are Call RR'ing based off of busy conditions.

If the 2nd line is its own line, why dont you just make the 2nd line into a personal ring group. from there, you could (on the cheap side) plug a loud telephone or ring amplifier into an open ons port and wire this to his office.

Or you buy a sip FXS adapter and put this into the PRG. You could do the same thing in this scenario
