Handsets w/out Speaker Phone

OK, sounds stupid, but DOD requirements state that one of our customers clean rooms (30 handsets) must NOT have speaker phone on them. The small phones w/ Listen only speaker have no features and not enough available lines. Ananalog phones would be a waste of resources, not to mention a royal PITA.

Thoughts, suggestions?

Be mindful that you don't want to tamper with the telephone's actual speaker, as this is where the ringing originates. You could easily disable the microphone if that would suffice. Phone modification should be a last resort - making certain replacements are also modified may be a challenge. Executone IDS platform (15+ years old) allowed you to turn off speakerphone in software - I miss some of those easy creature comforts...
