Handset volume on 616

Searching this forum tells me I cannot reduce handset volume with a 616 PBX and have it stay where I put it; I have to adjust it for each call.

I wasn't able to find out if there is a software upgrade for the 616 that would allow me to do this. My software version is NT5B10CE-93. If anyone knows if it's possible to upgrade for this feature, I would appreciate details.

Can you place hardware attenuators to reduce volume? If so where can I buy them?

We just changed carriers and the audio volume of calls from the new carrier is much too loud. The carrier says they have no control over it.

6X16 discontinued for years and no longer supported by Nortel.

CICS Compact ICS (the newer system) has a system setting and a user setting.
If you tell the system to use user setting then it will retain the last users setting on next call.
