Have an Avaya 9408 digital phone connected to a Dynametric phone handset audio logger.
Looking for ideas on how to add in a headset (Poly SAVI 7220) so Dynametric can record audio from both handset and headset.
Basically want to combine the headset and handset audio into the Dynametric, but still allow the headset to work as it should connected to the phone's headset jack.
Any ideas on how to do that?

This configuration I tried below with a Y-Splitter between the 9408 and the Dynametric, mutes the handset's mic.
Any ideas on how to prevent the handset mic being muted?

Thanks much!

I'm pretty sure you're not only dealing with wiring/pinout differences between the 2 connections but also impedance mismatches likely making this not possible. Unless someone has a better answer... you could abandon using the headset port on the phone and use something like a Plantronics M22 amplifier to convert/split the handset connection from the phone into a handset and headset connection on the M22 adapter. At that point, you can plug your recording device between the single cable connecting M22 to the handset port on the phone.

Thanks much for the M22 idea CL.
As you suggested, when I tried to abandon the headset port, it did work to record both headset and handset with no issues.

However, I have to lift the handset manually first when making/receiving a call, and then press the Poly SAVI's headset button to then use the headset.
So tried Y-splitter to eliminate the need to manually lift the handset off the cradle each time needing to make/receive a call with the headset. But that introduced the handset muting issue I mentioned in previous post.

With this handset port only configuration above, can you think of any way to allow use of the headset button on the Avaya 9408, instead of having to manually lift the handset?

Go into the phone menu and poke around. Try:

1. Press Avaya Menu.
2. Select Call Settings.
3. Press Select or OK.
4. Select Audio Path.

See if anything in there can make it work. Alternatively, I think you might also be able to just leave the handset off the cradle. To answer a call, press the ringing line appearance. To hang up, I think an active call will have a softkey to drop or end call.

Thank you CL! I'll give those ideas a shot.
