is there any way to get the phones to use hands free anwser when the phone is dialed outside ;; it only seems to work when a some dials the ext inside : say some one inside the office dials 3337 it works but outside the office when the dial area code and number the phone keeps ringing.

Thanks

Are you asking if the phone can automatically answer an incoming call from outside? If so, the answer is Yes, but only if you have the right bug in your software level. The IP Office has had this feature from time to time and is considered a bug, simply because of the "interesting" results that can result from an inbound call being automatically answered. I've heard on this board that 3.0(40) has it, and I remember clearly 1.3 (15) had it. The user had to enable HFAns (Handsfree Answer) at their station. If you're asking for something else, please clarify. Thanks
Mike

HFAns thats the option , but it didnt work when the calls come from outside , I tried to fwd the call inside but that didnt work after.

I guess versoin 4 15 is no good then.

There must be another way any ideas??

Just to clarify, most folks don't want HFAns to work with outside calls. They don't want to walk into their office and find an ouside caller already answered on their speakerphone... It only works on a couple of versions of IP Office because of a bug that Avaya has fixed.

However, you CAN do this intentionally when transferring using the Auto intercom feature. I think it's Trans + press auto intercom button + dial ext + hang up.

It would still be nice to have it. Its common on many phone systems to have a 'force feed' option for call centers - something that gives a single ring or beep and then connects the call.

You could I suppose try changing the extension settings from Standard Phone to Paging Speaker - but that might have some side effects.

The following user ShortCode should allow you to set HfAns for external callers on a per user basis.

Code: *DCP
Telephone Number: 0,0,2,2
Feature: CW

This has been tested on 3.0.40 and 2.1.31.

Enjoy~
