Help, I have a M7310 that the handsfree mute button is programmed as intercom. I can not find how I program this button to handsfree mute. So I have 2 intercom buttons and no handsfree mute button. It has 8 lines which leaves only the 2 function buttons. What can I do to fix it?
the system is a MICS 8x32.
Thanks.

Adding "Handsfree" capability to a phone:

4) Press: SHOW
Display will read: "Line Access"
5) Press: NEXT
Display will read: "Capabilities"
6) Press: SHOW
Display will read: "Fwd no Answer"
7) Press: NEXT
Display will read: "Fwd on Busy"
8) Press: NEXT
Display will read: "DND on Busy"
9) Press: NEXT
Display will read: "Handsfree:__"
Press the Change "softkey" until you see Auto
10) Press: NEXT
Display will read: "HF anserback: __"
Press the change "softkey" until you see Y

Good Luck!!

thanks worked like a charm, but I had to change the number of intercom key to 1 because I only had 2 left after the line hoged up the other 8. why there were 2 intercom keys programed I don't know.

Elephanthead,

You need 2 intercom paths to transfer calls, therefore you need 2 intercom keys.

You will need two intercomm ports only if you have no line showings. For the purposes of call handling, the line keys provide voice paths.

Roldan,
Why is it just you and I late on this site? -again- Your replies to posts are really good. I would hope you clarify my post too as MR did recently.

Cheers

Don't you need two intercoms for initiating a conference also? Not 100% sure but I thought that was another function of multiple intercom keys. Jerry Pannell

sclb,
No. Only if you have no CO lines showing on the set. I think an aswer key also doubles.

Well thanks Arr, I don't know I guess we just like to stay up late and help people out. It's good to see there are people out there to keep me honest.

Arr,
Thanks for the info. If the CO line does not appear then two intercom keys are required? Do I understand this correctly?
EX: 14 CO Lines and only 4 appear at desk set, then two intercoms are needed.(transfer, call control, conf., etc.)
EX: 6 CO Lines and all appear, then one intercom is sufficient?
Thanks in advance Jerry Pannell

SCLB,
If ANY CO lines appear then you don't need two intercom keys. But it is a good idea for reception to have two because they do a lot of call handling.

I think you would still need two intercoms for certain situations, such as: creating a conference between yourself, an outside caller, and someone internally. I think you need at least two IC's to do a call record with NAM too.

BK,
You do not need two intercom keys to create a conf call with two internal and one external party. As fort he NAM I am not sure on that one at all.

PhM

I don't think the call record has anything to do with the number of IC keys. All it does is when someone is on the phone and they do a Feature 989, the voicemail starts recording the call and the message is left in the users mailbox.
Plus the COS has to be edited to set Call Record to Yes. MRoberts

mroberts, an intercom button is used during call record because record is actually a confrence call to the vml.

as for the rest I would be comfortable with one intercom if you have a square system with all CO's showing, but if you need to make a lot of station to station calls, confrences and transfers I would want to have two intercom buttons 'cause you know some customer is going to try something eventually that won't work with only one button and of course that customer is going to be the president of the company.
